Playa Joyel is a first class resort, situated between the ports of Bilbao and Santander on the 'Costa Verde'. This friendly campsite enjoys the perfect location; right next to the wide golden sands of the Playa Joyel and backed by the green hills of Cantabria. Playa Joyel is an excellent beach for all ages, with a good surf for body boarders and rocky outcrops to provide sheltered bathing. At low tide massive rock pools are exposed to offer snorkelling, fishing and shrimping! There are some great views and spectacular fishing from the nearby headland. This is a spacious resort with an entire area dedicated to excellent sports facilities and with its own animal reserve. Playa Joyel is quiet during low season but lively in July and August with regular discos in the restaurant basement (soundproof). Noja is only 2 miles away with restaurants, bars, shops and a disco. The pretty town of Isla is accessible on foot at low tide. Travel back in time at the replica pre-historic caves at Altamira or visit the impressive Guggenheim museum in Bilbao.
