WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU?

It is obviously up to your discretion, but bear in mind the following points:

1. Life on the campsite is fairly informal; so don't overload with unnecessary clothes.

2. You are provided with a Venue Holidays sweatshirt, polo shirt and vest. You'll need a smart pair of shorts (navy or beige) for reception. Otherwise have shorts and T-shirts with you that you don't mind getting dirty for cleaning in the mornings!

3. The weather in July and August is generally hot and you will rarely need more than shorts and T-shirts, even in the evenings. However, the weather at other times can be cool and unsettled. Take some jumpers with you, along with your jeans for the evenings and have some tracksuit trousers to work in.

4. Footwear. During the season sandals or flip-flops are the most comfortable. However, for heavy work during montage and demontage (especially in the equipment stores) it would be a good idea to have a sturdy pair of shoes.

5. Thunderstorms are fairly common, so make sure you have a good waterproof coat. Waterproof footwear is also a good idea.

6. Although we have some bedding on the campsites, you should bring your own sleeping bag.

7. Insects can be a problem, so it's a good idea to take some repellents with you. If you have any allergies to dust or pollen consult your doctor. Pollen levels tend to be high on campsites and the work kicks up lots of dust.

8. You must have a valid passport, non-EEC citizens must have the necessary entry visas.

9. You must be able to obtain cash whilst abroad, from your UK bank account. Please check with your bank that your UK cash dispenser card gives you this facility.

10. From 1 January 2006 an E111 travel health insurance document will no longer be valid. It is being replaced by the new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You can apply for the EHIC by visiting  www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or calling 0845 606 2030.

11. Finally before you leave, make sure that the Venue Holidays head office in Ashford has your NI insurance number, your bank details (name of bank, sort code, account name and account number) and a contact address for your family at home.
